How to: Change Culture Codes for System Definition Model (SDM) Documents
In Distributed System Designers, you can change the culture code for a distributed system diagram or certain elements on the diagram when the diagram or element is associated with an individual System Definition Model (SDM) document. Editing the culture code makes it possible for you to specify cultural information for the document, such as language, country, or region. Culture codes also help identify an SDM document and are also used to help resolve references between SDM documents when conflicts occur.
Note
When multiple versions of the same SDM document are loaded, Distributed System Designers first checks the version number of the document, then the culture code to resolve any conflicts. For more information, see Overview of the System Definition Model (SDM).
You can edit the culture code for the following elements or diagrams:
Application definitions on the application diagram.
System diagrams.
Deployment diagrams.
Logical datacenter diagrams.
You can use a predefined culture code as described by the CultureInfo class in the MSDN Online Library. The CultureInfo class is part of the System.Globalization namespace.
Note
You can modify the culture code for an element or diagram only when the appropriate designer is open for editing that element or diagram directly. For example, you can edit the culture code for an application only in Application Designer, not from System Designer.
To edit the culture code of an element or diagram associated with an SDM document
Select the element or diagram in the designer used to edit item directly.
In the Properties window, type the culture code for the Culture property.
Tip
If the Properties window is not visible, choose Properties from the Diagram menu or press F4.
