Configuring the name of the Web server to publish

After you create a Web publishing rule in Microsoft Forefront Threat Management Gateway, you may want to change the internal site name or configure the name or IP address of the published Web server.

To configure the name of Web server to publish

  1. In the Forefront TMG Management console tree, click Firewall Policy.

  2. In the details pane, click the applicable Web publishing rule.

  3. On the Tasks tab, click Edit Selected Rule.

  4. On the To tab, do one or both of the following:

    • If you want to change the internal site name specified in the rule, in This rule applies to this published site, type the new internal site name.
    • If the internal site name is not resolvable to the IP address of the published server, in Computer name or IP address, type a resolvable name or IP address of the published Web server.
  5. Select Forward the original host header instead of the actual one if the published server hosts multiple Web sites and Forefront TMG should pass the original Host header to the published server. When Forefront TMG passes the original Host header, the fully qualified domain name (FQDN) specified in the Host header can be used to route client requests to a particular Web site on the published server.

  6. Click OK.

  7. In the details pane, click the Apply button to save and update the configuration, and then click OK.

Notes

  • Changes that you make to the properties of a Web publishing rule or the Web listener associated with it apply only to new connections.
  • For more information about Host headers, see About Host headers.
