Configure the virtual DHCP server
To configure the virtual DHCP server
- Open the Administration Website.
- In the navigation pane, under Virtual Networks, point to Configure and then click the appropriate virtual network.
- In Virtual Network Properties, click DHCP server.
- Select Enabled, configure the necessary DHCP server options listed in the following table, and then click OK.

Subnet mask for this virtual network. |
Starting IP address |
First IP address in the range maintained for assignment to clients. |
Ending IP address |
Last IP address in the range maintained for assignment to clients. |
Virtual DHCP server address |
IP address of this virtual DHCP server. |
Default gateway address |
IP address of a local IP router (gateway) that forwards traffic beyond this virtual network. |
DNS servers |
IP addresses for DNS servers that DHCP clients can contact and use to resolve a domain host name query. |
WINS servers |
IP addresses of primary and secondary WINS servers for the DHCP client to use. |
IP address lease time |
Duration of the IP address lease offered by the server. This defines the length of time during which the client can use the assigned IP address. The minimum value allowed is 60 seconds. |
Lease renewal time |
Time interval from IP address assignment until the client transitions to the renewing state. The minimum value allowed is 30 seconds. |
Lease rebinding time |
Time interval from IP address assignment until the client transitions to the rebinding state. The minimum value allowed is 45 seconds. |
Note
To perform this procedure, you must have the appropriate permissions. If you do not have the appropriate permissions, you will either receive an error message or you will not be able to view certain menu items and options described in this procedure. To change your permissions, contact your Virtual Server administrator. For more information, see Securing Virtual Server. The virtual DHCP server reserves the first 16 IP addresses from the start of the specified IP address range; these addresses are never assigned.
