Detailed Description

The New-SCSMClassInstance cmdlet adds a class instance to the database.

Parameters

-Class<ManagementPackClass>

Specifies the class on which the new instance is based. You can use the Get-SCClass cmdlet to obtain the ManagementPackClass object that is required for this parameter.

-ComputerName<String[]>

Specifies a computer with which to establish a connection. The computer must be running the System Center Data Access service. The default value is the computer for the current management group connection.

Valid formats include a NetBIOS name, an IP address, or a fully qualified domain name (FQDN). To specify the local computer, type the computer name, "localhost", or a dot (.).

    You can pipe a class to the Class parameter of the New-SCSMClassInstance cmdlet, for example, the object that is returned by the Get-SCClass cmdlet.

  • This cmdlet does not generate any output.

Examples

Example 1: Create printer class instances

These commands create a set of 10 printer class instances named Printer0 through Printer9. The location is set to "Contoso Headquarters", and they are all associated with the ServerName "ContosoPrintServer".
