Refreshing Operational Files

When you start an instance of Notification Services, the Microsoft Windows service loads all XML schema definitions (XSD files), XSL transforms (XSLT files), and custom component files into memory. Periodically, you might need to refresh these files, such as after you alter an XSLT file.

To reload any of these files, you must restart the Notification Services engine. The engine is typically run by the NS$instanceName Windows service. For example, to reload XSLT files in a scale-out scenario where the distributor runs on server MyServer03, you need to restart the NS$instanceName Windows service on server MyServer03.
