How to: Add or Modify Maintenance Plan Subplan Schedules

Maintenance plans can contain multiple subplans, which are used to hold collections of tasks. Each subplan can be scheduled to run the subplan tasks at different times. To create or manage maintenance plans, you must be a member of the sysadmin fixed server role.

To schedule a subplan

  1. In Object Explorer, expand a server, expand Management, and then expand Maintenance Plans.

  2. Right-click a maintenance plan, and click Modify.

  3. Select a subplan in the grid, click Subplan Schedule in the toolbar or click the Subplan Schedule icon adjacent to the subplan in the grid.

  4. Enter the schedule details into the Job Schedule Properties dialog box.

To modify a subplan schedule

  1. In Object Explorer, expand a server, expand Management, and then expand Maintenance Plans.

  2. Right-click a maintenance plan, and click Modify.

  3. Select a subplan in the grid, click Subplan Schedule in the toolbar or click the Subplan Schedule icon next to the subplan in the grid. You can also double-click the subplan, and then click the Subplan Schedule icon in the Subplan Properties dialog box.

  4. Enter the new schedule details into the Job Schedule Properties dialog box.

To remove a subplan schedule

  1. In Object Explorer, expand a server, expand Management, and then expand Maintenance Plans.

  2. Right-click a maintenance plan, and click Modify.

  3. Select a subplan in the grid, click Remove Schedule in the toolbar or click the Remove Schedule icon next to the subplan in the grid. You can also double-click the subplan, and then click the Remove Schedule icon in the Subplan Properties dialog box.
