This dialog box from the Table Import Wizard enables you to specify the encoding and the locale for the flat file you are connecting to. To access the wizard from the SQL Server Data Tools, on the Model menu, click Import from Data Source.

Encoding Specify the type of encoding to use: ANSI or Unicode.

The Unicode value corresponds to UTF-16 encoding.
Locale Specify the locale to provide language-specific information for ordering and for date and time formats.
