Linear Chordmaps
End signpost chords are generally used as termination points for chord paths. When an end signpost is reached, a new chord path is selected, often with an element of randomness.
It is also possible, however, to create a chordmap consisting of a single chord path that extends over many measures in a linear fashion, with signpost chords in the middle. Such a chordmap is shown in the following figure.
The behavior of this chordmap is essentially the same as that of a chordmap with several shorter chord paths that do not branch, as shown in the following figure.
When you create a linear chord path, you must designate the signposts in the middle of a path as both beginning and end signposts, as shown here.
To do this, right-click the signpost chord and click both options, Toggle Beginning Signpost and Toggle End Signpost, on the shortcut menu.
