File Output in an Audiopath
The Effect Palette contains a DirectX Media Object (DMO) called FileOutput. You can insert this effect in an audiopath when you want to use the wave export function to capture a performance as a wave file. See Wave and MIDI Export Toolbar.
To use the wave export function, you must select an audiopath in the Audiopath List that is set to route the output from all mix groups to a buffer containing the FileOutput DMO.
Information is recorded only from the PChannels in the mix group that uses the FileOutput effect. The following figure shows an audiopath file that sends all the output from PChannels 1 through 128 to be recorded as a wave.
If a mix group already uses effects other than the FileOutput DMO, then you must use a Send effect to route the output after those effects to a buffer containing the FileOutput DMO. See Send Effects.
When you use the Wave and MIDI Export toolbar to capture a performance, you enter a file name for the wave file that is saved. If multiple buffers use the FileOutput DMO, multiple wave files are created. Each uses the same file name, followed by a number for the order in which it is created. For example, if you enter the name Record for the wave file, the first file created is saved as Record.wav, the second file is saved as Record1.wav, and then Record2.wav, and so on.
The order in which the files are created is the same as the order of mix groups, except that mix groups with PChannels are saved before those without PChannels.
