Assign a security role to a business process flow
Applies To: Dynamics 365 (online), Dynamics 365 (on-premises), Dynamics CRM 2013, Dynamics CRM 2015, Dynamics CRM Online, Dynamics CRM 2016
After you create a business process flow, you need to enable the security roles of those who are going to use it. This allows people with the security role to assign the process to new and existing records.
Note
If you're using Dynamics 365, you can assign security roles from the designer window of a business process flow or mobile task flow. More information: Create a business process flow
Make sure you have the System Administrator security role or equivalent permissions in Microsoft Dynamics 365.
Check your security role
Follow the steps in View your user profile.
Don’t have the correct permissions? Contact your system administrator.
Go to Settings > Processes.
In the list of processes, select the name of the process you want to change permissions for to open the Business Process Flow editor.
In the Business Process Flow editor, select Enable Security Roles.
Confirm that the correct business unit is selected, and then select the name of the security role for which you want to change permissions.
You can change permissions for only one role at a time.
On the Security Role page, select the Business Process Flows tab.
Select the process name in the Entity column to add or remove all permissions for the current security role, or select the circle for an individual permission to enable or disable it.
Note
The permissions listed apply to the usage of the business process and not to defining or modifying the process itself.
Select the Save icon to save your permission changes, or select Save and Close to save the changes and close the Security Role page.
Repeat steps 5 through 8 for each security role you want to modify permissions for. When finished, you can close the Security Role page and Business Process Flow editor.
