The effort to enhance the loyalty capabilities of Dynamics 365 for Retail started with the 8.1 release and we're continuing to invest in it. As a part of the December monthly update, we're adding the capability to enable retailers to reward customers for any activity with the brand—for example, filling out an online survey, visiting a store, liking the retailer on Facebook, tweeting about the retailer, and more.

Additionally, we've improved the user experience of paying by loyalty balance in MPOS/CPOS by displaying the maximum amount of the transaction value that can be covered by the loyalty points, thus enabling the cashier to easily apply an appropriate amount to the transaction. We've also enhanced the loyalty balance view in MPOS/CPOS to show the loyalty balance that will expire in the next 30 days. This helps the cashier or store associate to upsell and cross-sell items, as the customers might be motivated to use the loyalty balance before it expires.

Lastly, we've released the capability to save the earned and redeemed loyalty points at the sales line level so that, in case of returns, you can undo or take back the exact number of points that were used or awarded in the original transaction.
