Creates a catalog for a data source.

Description

The Start-DPMCreateCatalog cmdlet creates a catalog for a data source in System Center - Data Protection Manager (DPM).

A catalog is a list of all URLs in the farm. You must use a catalog for item-level recovery. In DPM, you can generate catalogs only for SharePoint farms.

A data source can be a file system share or volume for the Windows operating system, Microsoft SQL Server database, Microsoft Exchange Server storage group, Microsoft SharePoint farm, Microsoft Virtual Machine, DPM database, or system state that is a member of a protection group.
