Business value
This set of enhancements in the inventory space provides admins with visibility into the resources and usage in an environment, across a group of environments, and at the tenant level. With deeper visibility, admins can:
- Govern all platform assets more efficiently.
- Nurture development on the platform.
- Assess compliance and adoption.
Feature details
This feature includes the following enhancements:
- There are security enhancements such as a secured connection with network isolations, helping to protect data transfer and access from unauthorized users.
- The updated inventory supports environment, tenant, and workload-level granularity, allowing for more precise control over data export.
- For complex questions that require multiple data sets or require custom visualizations, admins can export the entire data set into a data lake via the updated Data Export capability.
- Data is exported in delta format, supporting data reliability and integrity. This format also allows for schema evolution, making it easier to add, remove, or change columns over time.
- Other data access point enhancements include ODATA APIs, which allow for a variety of ways to query data. Users can create complex queries to retrieve exactly the data they need, making the system versatile and adaptable to different requirements. The data accessed via the API is also updated regularly so users can rely on the data being current.
- Users can leverage the new export capability to access their data with Power BI through a Microsoft Fabric connection. The Fabric integration feature is only available in the premium, Managed Environment workspace.
