Lync 2013 is a presence-enabled application that is built on the Microsoft Lync Server 2013 enhanced presence platform. It defines and uses the unified communications enhanced presence schemas for the presence states, communication capabilities, contact information, calendar data, and user settings. It also defines the container semantics for remote access and the rules of publication for remote presence watchers. In addition, it follows the local container semantics that are enforced by Lync Server 2013.
For an application developer, understanding enhanced presence in Lync 2013 is important if your presence application interoperates with Lync 2013.
