Monitoring best practices for Microsoft Sustainability Manager
This list provides some best practices to monitor Microsoft Sustainability Manager:
- Turn on auditing in all environments where Dataverse is enabled to ingest critical events to Microsoft Purview compliance portal. Ideally, do this step during the environment creation process. Use Application Insights linked to a Log Analytics workspace in Azure to capture key diagnostics and performance metrics for all environments using Dataverse. Enable critical alerts for the respective Power Platform admins and environment owners.
- If separation of concern is important, configure data export to Application Insights on behalf of the application teams/owners for their environments. They can then monitor the diagnostics and performance of their own dedicated environments.
- Use an Azure Data Lake Storage (Gen2) account to store and analyze Power App usage for the tenant for durations as required by your organization's data retention policies. Use Power BI to build informative reports for the various Power Platform stakeholders.
- Enable tenant-level analytics for an aggregated view of usage across Power Platform components.
- Enable analytics data export to Data Lake or Application Insights.
- Ensure that your data in the cloud, hybrid, and on-premises is classified and cataloged, reflecting one of the essential elements of a security model. Microsoft Purview can connect to and classify Dataverse and Power BI used in Microsoft Cloud for Sustainability.
