Update the cross-tenant access policy template with user synchronization settings for a multitenant organization.

Permissions

Choose the permission or permissions marked as least privileged for this API. Use a higher privileged permission or permissions only if your app requires it. Important

In delegated scenarios with work or school accounts, the signed-in user must be assigned a supported Microsoft Entra role or a custom role with a supported role permission. Security Administrator is the least privileged role supported for this operation.

Request body

In the request body, supply only the values for properties to update. Existing properties that aren't included in the request body maintain their previous values or are recalculated based on changes to other property values.

The following table specifies the properties that can be updated.

userSyncInbound crossTenantUserSyncInbound Determines whether users can be synchronized from the partner tenant. false causes any current user synchronization from the source tenant to the target tenant to stop. This property has no impact on existing users who have already been synchronized.
templateApplicationLevel templateApplicationLevel Specifies whether the template will be applied to user synchronization settings of certain tenants. The possible values are: none, newPartners, existingPartners, unknownFutureValue. You can also specify multiple values like newPartners,existingPartners (default). none indicates the template is not applied to any new or existing partner tenants. newPartners indicates the template is applied to new partner tenants. existingPartners indicates the template is applied to existing partner tenants, those who already had partner-specific user synchronization settings in place. Optional.

Response

If successful, this method returns a 204 No Content response code.

Examples

The following example updates the user synchronization settings of the template. It configures that the template is applied for new and existing partners. For more information, see crossTenantIdentitySyncPolicyPartner resource type.
