You can plan and process an outbound load to ship specific items from a company’s warehouse to a customer. This topic provides an overview of how to use Microsoft Dynamics AX to plan the transportation and shipping of an outbound load.

The following illustration shows the business process flow for planning and processing outbound loads for shipping. The numbers correspond to the tasks that are described later in this topic.

Use the information in the following table to learn how to plan and process an outbound load for shipment.

Topic	Description
1. Create or modify an outbound load	Use a sales order or transfer order to manually create an outbound load for shipping. You can also modify an existing outbound load.
2. Assign a rate and route to a load	Assign a rate, route, and shipping carrier.
3. Create, process, and release a wave manually	Create and process a wave manually to specify the pick and put location.
4. Pick, put, and pack an outbound load	Pick a load from the storage location and put it in a staging area for packing or put it onto the outbound dock for shipping.
5. Consolidate multiple shipments into a load	Optional: Consolidate multiple shipments that are shipped to one or more destinations in the same route.
6. Plan appointments for a load	Plan when to ship the packed load from the outbound dock to a destination.
7. Register driver check-in and check-out for an appointment	Register a driver check-in and check-out to complete the appointment.
8. Confirm a load for shipping	Confirm an outbound load for shipping.
