WorksheetFunction.Beta_Dist Method

Definition

Returns the beta cumulative distribution function.

public double Beta_Dist (double Arg1, double Arg2, double Arg3, bool Arg4, object Arg5, object Arg6);
Public Function Beta_Dist (Arg1 As Double, Arg2 As Double, Arg3 As Double, Arg4 As Boolean, Optional Arg5 As Object, Optional Arg6 As Object) As Double

Parameters

Arg1
Double

The value between A and B at which to evaluate the function.

Arg2
Double

The Alpha parameter of the distribution.

Arg3
Double

The Beta parameter of the distribution.

Arg4
Boolean

Cumulative - a logical value that determines the form of the function. If cumulative is true, BETA.DIST returns the cumulative distribution function; if false, it returns the probability density function.

Arg5
Object

An optional lower bound to the interval of x.

Arg6
Object

An optional upper bound to the interval of x.

Returns

Remarks

The beta distribution is commonly used to study variation in the percentage of something across samples, such as the fraction of the day people spend watching television:

  • If any argument is nonnumeric, Beta_Dist returns the #VALUE! error value.
  • If alpha ≤ 0 or beta ≤ 0, Beta_Dist generates an error value.
  • If x < A, x > B, or A = B, Beta_Dist generates an error value.
  • If you omit values for A and B (lower and upper bound), Beta_Dist uses the standard cumulative beta distribution, so that A = 0 and B = 1.
