Retrieves an arbitrary metadata from the item element, expands any property and item references within it, and unescapes it.

Parameters

metadataName: String

The name of the attribute to retrieve.

Returns

String

The evaluated value of the requested attribute.

Exceptions

InvalidOperationException

Thrown when the requested attribute is not applicable to the item.

Remarks

Custom attributes on virtual items are not evaluated.
