Quickstart: Enable alphanumeric sender ID
Prerequisites
- An Azure account with an active subscription. Create an account for free.
- An active Communication Services resource.
- An eligible subscription address.
Alphanumeric sender ID
Alphanumeric Sender IDs are displayed as a custom alphanumeric phrase like the company’s name (CONTOSO, MyCompany) on the recipient handset. Alphanumeric sender IDs can be used for various use cases like one-time passcodes, marketing alerts, and flight status notifications.
There are two types of alphanumeric sender IDs:
- Dynamic alphanumeric sender ID: Supported in countries/regions that don't require registration for use. Dynamic alphanumeric sender IDs can be instantly provisioned.
- Preregistered alphanumeric sender ID: Supported in countries/regions that require registration for use. Preregistered alphanumeric sender IDs are typically provisioned in 4-5 weeks.
Refer to SMS overview page for list of countries/regions that are supported.
