In this article I’ve tried to list all the existing clients for Lync (also the ones that are not effectively installed on a device like Web App).
With a Lync client you are able to connect to Lync and use features such as enhanced presence and contact information, extended voice and calling features, and rich meeting and collaboration capabilities.

Lync 2010
Lync is the primary client software for Lync Server that provides presence, contact management, instant messaging (IM), conferencing, and telephony features.
A short list of features includes :
- Availability of contacts is based on Microsoft Outlook calendars stored in a Microsoft Exchange Server
- Allows sharing files.
- Collaboration through Whiteboard documents
- Collaboration through Power Point documents
- Polling lists
- Desktop sharing
- Windows applications sharing

Lync Web App
Microsoft Lync Web App is a browser-based version of Microsoft Lync 2010 that allows people who are using a computer that doesn't have Lync 2010 or Microsoft Lync 2010 Attendee installed or who do not have a Microsoft Lync Server 2010 account to participate in online meetings.
It is designed mainly for external partners who are invited to Lync meetings, but it is also useful for employees who are not at their usual computer at meeting time or have not yet upgraded to Lync.
Lync Web App is supported on either Windows or Macintosh operating systems. For Windows users, all the in-meeting features are available, except for computer audio, video, and the ability to upload Microsoft PowerPoint presentations. The same features that are available to Windows users are also available to Macintosh users, with the exception of desktop and program sharing.
Quick Start: Participate in online meetings with Lync Web App
Lync Attendee
Lync Attendee is a rich conferencing client that allows users who do not have Lync installed to fully participate in Lync Server meetings. A Lync 2010 Attendee user can join meetings by using their company credentials, or they can join as a guest.
Lync 2010 Attendee provides communication tools such as multiparty instant messaging (IM), computer audio, video, as well as collaboration tools such as desktop and program sharing, file sharing, whiteboard, polling, and slide presentation
a) Install Lync 2010 Attendee before joining a meeting
As mentioned, the support team in your organization may have already installed and set up Attendee for you. If they did, you will see Microsoft Lync 2010 Attendee in the Windows Start menu, where you can open it and view and change options, if required.
If your organization allows it, you can download and install Attendee from the download page at Microsoft Lync 2010 Attendee - User Level Install.
When Attendee is installed, you can join a meeting as a guest or an authenticated user.
b) Install Lync 2010 Attendee while joining a meeting Click the Join online meeting link in an online meeting request.
A screen with instructions for selecting a client to install is displayed. Click Download and install Lync Attendee.
A webpage with a download and install link will open. Follow the download and install instructions.
After you’ve completed the installation, in the online meeting request, click Join online meeting again.

Lync 2010 Attendant
Lync Attendant is an call management application that helps you manage many simultaneous calls. Lync 2010 Attendant runs in a full-screen window to provide a streamlined desktop experience.
The Attendant window is divided into two main areas; Conversations and Contacts.
Incoming, active and pending conversations are displayed in the Conversation Area
Incoming Area – The area where new conversations come into Attendant.
Active Area – The main window for one conversation, where multiple operations can be performed.
Pending Area – The area where calls on hold or minimized conversations are placed.

Online Meeting Add-in for Lync 2010
The Online Meeting Add-in for Microsoft Lync 2010, supports meeting management from within the Microsoft Outlook messaging and collaboration client.
Usually located at C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Lync\ucaddin.dll they are deployed as part of the Lync client install. There is no separate installer available.

You can customize the Online Meeting Add-in for Microsoft Lync 2010 in the following ways:
By adding custom text to a meeting request by using a Microsoft Exchange Server 2010 or Microsoft Exchange Server 2007 Hub Transport Server transport rule
By configuring available meeting options and meeting-option defaults by using Microsoft Lync Server 2010 in-band provisioning
