Azure: Backup and Recover Your Data in with QNAP Azure Storage (Part 2)
Introduction
Back up and Recover Your Data to Azure with QNAP Azure Storage In our previous article, we created Part 1 Storage Account and then added a container to our storage account. We have installed our Azure Storage application on our QNAP device via App Center. In the second part of our article, we will add our storage account to our Azure Storage application. Right after, we will test our backup process by defining a Schedule to our device.
Defining an Azure Storage Account to the Azure Storage Application
Let's open our Azure Storage application on our QNAP device . Let's click on the Account button from the window that opens . Just then create an account Then click on the button.
Now, let's go back to Microsoft Azure and get the access information for our Storage Account. We will create an account on our QNAP device using this information we receive. For this, let's do the following operations respectively;
- Let's click on All resources.
- Let's click on the storage account we have created ..
- Click on Access key.
- Here we can see the name for our storage account.
- Here we can see key1 (key1). Let's copy this information.
Important Note
Do not share your name and key with anyone. Otherwise, all your data. They can fall into the hands of other persons and damage your data. If you notice something like this. Click the Regenerate button right next to your key to create a new key. When the new key is created, your QNAP device cannot access azure storage service, the required key must be updated on QNAP again.
You can give any name to the image name. The important thing here is the Storage Account name and Access key. After entering this information, let's click the OK button.
Note: You can define more than one azure storage account to the Azure Storage application on your QNAP device.
Note: If the time zone of your QNAP device is not up to date, you cannot add the Azure Storage Account.
Now we need to create a job to start the backup. For this, respectively; Click on the Backup and Create Job buttons.
Against Us Overview window will open. After reading it, click the next button.
Let's select the folders we want to back up. Let's click the Next button.
When we come to the next window, we are asked what kind of backup we will make. I choose this option because I will make a periodic backup, that is, continuous.
I click the next button after selecting the daily, daily backups and time options.
When we come to the configure policy window, you can configure it according to your own structure. Since I want incremental, that is to take a full backup only once, then back up the changed data, I select the backup only the updated files option and click the next button.
Note: Our Azure Storage Application on QNAP supports Full and incremental backup systems. Click for detailed information .
Again, you can configure the above image in a way that suits you.
When we come to the configure cloud window, we created a container. After selecting the container we created, all our backups will be backed up on this container. After entering this information, let's click the next button.

After seeing the summary of our transactions and confirming them, we can click the next button.
All our settings are complete. Click the Finish button.
Conclusion
As you can see in the image above, we created our backup business daily. If you want, you can run the backup manually from here and start the backup process on a day or time you want. Or you can rearrange.
If you remember, I set the backup job to 14:30. When I look at the job I created, we can see that the backup process was successfully completed at 14:30.
We can see that the backup process was successful when I control over Azure by going to the container I created earlier. Now we can move on to Part 3.
