How to Configure Folder Protection With OneDrive
Introduction
OneDrive is associated with Microsoft account. We can save our important files, pictures, and folders securely to OneDrive and get them from any device, anywhere. With Folder Protection feature we can sync our Documents, Desktop and Pictures folders from our PC to access them anywhere from other devices. This is an extra layer of protection from ransomware.
How to enable Folder Protection
- Click on OneDrive icon present in the Taskbar.
- Click on three dots or More.
- Select Settings
- Click Auto Save
- Click Update folders
- We will immediately find three folders Desktop, Pictures, and Documents with total sizes.
- Click Start protection.
- Selected folders will sync in OneDrive.
- Once finished click OK.
The green color circle with tick mark indicates “Available on this device” while the blue colored cloud indicates “When available online”
Steps To Turn Off Protection
- Click on OneDrive icon present in the Taskbar.
- Click on three dots or More.
- Select Settings
- Click Auto Save
- Update folders
- We will immediately find Manage protection of important folders -Desktop, Pictures and Documents with total sizes.
- Click Stop protecting. Next, confirm that you want to stop protection in the Turn off protection dialog box.
- Click on OK in Microsoft OneDrive settings.
