Secure Productive Enterprise Overview

Secure Productive Enterprise is an offering from Microsoft that launched 1 October 2016.  It is the successor to an older solution, the Enterprise Cloud Suite (ECS).  This article provides an overview, introducing Secure Productive Enterprise, what it includes along with further resources.

Note: Secure Productive Enterprise was replaced with Microsoft 365 Enterprise, a new offering that became available 1st August 2017.  For more information on this check the Microsoft 365 Enterprise product page.

What is Secure Productive Enterprise?

Secure Productive Enterprise brings together Office 365, Enterprise Mobility + Security and Windows 10 Enterprise as a single per-user subscription-based licence.  

Microsoft describes the benefits and the top priorities that Secure Productive Enterprise addresses:

  • Trust. Protect an organization, data and people
  • Collaboration. Create a productive workplace to embrace diverse work styles.
  • Mobility. Enable staff to get things done anywhere.
  • Intelligence. Provide insights to drive faster, better business decisions. 

Secure Productive Enterprise E3 vs E5

Secure Productive Enterprise includes two versions, E3 and E5:

Enterprise Cloud Suite has now been renamed to Secure Productive Enterprise E3.

Secure Productive Enterprise E3 includes:

  • Office 365 E3 
  • Windows 10 Enterprise E3
  • Enterprise Mobility + Security (EMS) E3

Secure Productive Enterprise E5 comes with: 

  • Office 365 E5 (includes all of Office 365 E3 plus Cloud PBX and PSTN conferencing, Microsoft MyAnalytics and Power BI Pro,  Advanced Threat Protection,  Customer Lockbox and Advanced eDiscovery)
  • Windows 10 Enterprise E5 (includes Windows 10 Enterprise E3 plus Windows Defender Advanced Threat Protection)
  • Enterprise Mobility + Security (EMS) E5 (includes all of EMS E3, Microsoft Cloud App Security, Azure Active Directory Premium P2, and Azure Information Protection P2)

Both E3 and E5 include some additional rights with their own stipulations, to install Office Professional Plus and on-prem productivity server rights.
