Creating a Windows Update Shortcut in Windows 10

Introduction

Windows Update is intimately associated with the performance of Windows 10. So keeping the system updated is of utmost important. Instead of going to Windows Update via Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update, you could create a desktop shortcut for launching the same instantly.

Walkthrough

Here is how to:

1.      Right click on a blank space on desktop.

2.      Select New > Create Shortcut

3.      Type  ms-settings:windowsupdate in the blank space under Type the location of the item option

4.      Click Next to continue.

5.      Give a name to this shortcut eg. Windows Update.

6.      Click Finish to create the shortcut.

7.      Right click on the newly created shortcut and select Properties.

8.      Click Web Document tab.

9.      Click Change Icon… tab.

10.   Select your desired icon.

11.   Click OK and Apply.
