Clearing Recent Item List in Windows 10 Technical Preview Build 9879

In Windows 10 Technical Preview Build 9879 You will find list of recent items under the File Explorer. It stores information about which programs you opened most often and which documents you opened recently.

This helps the user to have quick access to those items. But if you don't need them you can easily clear the list.

To remove items individually:

 Just right click on the recent program and select Remove from this list.

To remove the entire item list :

Right Click on Taskbar

Select Properties

Click Start Menu button

Under the Privacy option clear the check mark against Store and display recently opened items in the Start menu and the taskbar.

Click Apply and OK.

Through Command Prompt :

In the Start Search box type in cmd.

Now right click on Command Prompt icon and select Run as administrator

In the Command Prompt window type in the following commands followed by the Enter key in each step:

 

·         del /F /Q %APPDATA%\Microsoft\Windows\Recent\AutomaticDestinations\

·         del /F /Q %APPDATA%\Microsoft\Windows\Recent\CustomDestinations\

Exit Command Prompt.

Now you will find the recent list of items is cleared.
