Lync status not get change to presenting while desktop sharing

Issue: Lync status not get change to presenting while desktop sharing.

Problem Statement: Recently received query from user who was using Lync 2013 client, while desktop sharing users status not getting changed to “In presenting” it always showing as available or whatever status was earlier.

Resolution:

There are many things need to check for resolution like EWS is status, Lync –Outlook integration status etc. if EWS, Outlook integration is working however desktop sharing not showing presenting means this is not with EWS sync or integration issue. Resolution is something else or different.

If your EWS URL not showing, MAPI status not OK and Outlook integration not working then you have resolve these issues before proceeding below.

In this case everything was working however user’s status still shows available while desktop sharing.

Here you need to look, when user is using two monitor and display configured as extended then this issue will occurred.

Here are simple steps you can follow to isolate the issue because there is no resolution or not required:

  1. Ask affected users to share desktop with you however make sure they Share only primary monitor. See the below Screenshot where ‘Primary Monitor’ shared. Here status works fine.
  2. Now ask affected users to share desktop with you however make sure they Share only secondary monitor. See the below Screenshot where ‘Secondary Monitor’ shared.
  3. This time, ask affected users to share desktop with you however make sure they Share ‘All Monitors’. See the below Screenshot where ‘All Monitors’ shared.
