SharePoint Server 2010 or 2013 Troubleshooting: Installation of the package failed while installing CU on

Issue:

Update of Cumulative Update (CU) installation failed with error. Installation of the package failed.

Cause:

Missing CAB file while downloading (below for OCT-CU).

1. While downloading the CU from the MS site below, check the size of the ZIP file. It should be 1,232,518 KB.

2. The ZIP file must contain the two files below and the two files are in the same location:

ubersrv2010-kb2825786-fullfile-x64-glb

ubersrv_1

3. If the cab file is missing or the size of the ZIP file is not correct, download it again and try to run after a proper download.

Note:

The same applies to other CU patches also.
