How to apply “gpupdate”

Technical level: Basic

Summary
The “gpupdate” command refreshes local and Active Directory-based Group Policy settings, including settings on the computer from where it is run. You can use gpupdate locally on Windows XP or higher computers to refresh policy immediately.

Process
Step 1) Navigate to the Start Menu, then to All Programs, then to Accessories, then open Command Prompt. The program should look similar to the following display:
 
Step2) type “gpupdate” without the quotes into the dialog box as shown and then hit Enter.

When finished, it should look similar to the following

Step 3) Restart the computer
