Master Data Services: Troubleshooting Email Notifications
Notifications are based on Database Mail. To troubleshoot Database Mail, see Troubleshooting Database Mail.
When you configure notifications for ssMDSshort, you might encounter any of the following issues:
Users do not receive email
- Ensure that Service Broker is enabled. For more information, see How to: Activate Service Broker Message Delivery in Databases (Transact-SQL).
- Ensure that the interval after which mail is sent has passed. A setting in Master Data Services Configuration Manager determines how often emails are sent. You can adjust this setting in Master Data Services Configuration Manager or directly in the System Settings table. For more information, see System Settings Table (Master Data Services).
- The user's email address may not be correct. To confirm that the correct email address is associated with a user, see How to: Change a User's Email Address (Master Data Services).
- The user may not have accessed Master Data Manager. A user must access Master Data Manager at least once to receive email notifications.
Users do not receive version status change emails
A user must be a model administrator to receive notifications when a model's version status changes. For more information, see Model Administrators (Master Data Services).
Users do not receive business rule validation emails
- Ensure that the business rule is configured to send mail. For more information, see How to: Configure Business Rules to Send Notifications (Master Data Services).
- Verify that in Master Data Manager, on the Business Rule Maintenance page, the value in the Status column for the rule is Active.
- Verify that the user has a minimum of Read-only access to the object and member the business rule refers to. For more information, see Model Object Permissions (Master Data Services) and Hierarchy Member Permissions (Master Data Services).
The notification link does not work
A setting in Master Data Services Configuration Manager determines the URL that is included as a link in notification emails. You can adjust this setting in Master Data Services Configuration Manager or directly in the System Settings table. For more information, see System Settings Table (Master Data Services).
