Cross-domain organization transfer of Microsoft Dynamics CRM

You may be encountered conditions in which changes in network, DC or other changes forces you to transfer the organization in Dynamics CRM. This task seems difficult at first glance, but it could be really easy if you do it carefully following these steps:

1- Detaching the tables from the origin: Open the SQL management studio and below the "Databases" find the <organization name>_MSCRM. Right click and select tasks and then detach. At the newly opened window select "Drop" and then OK. This actions causes the tables to become isolated and not to be updated anymore.

2- Go to this path to find the data files and log files: Installation Drive > Program Files > Microsoft SQL Server > MSSQL(version number) > MSSQL > Data. Copy both of mdf and ldf files with the name of the organization.

3- Paste the copied files from the origin, in the same path in the destination folder.

4- In the newly installed environment open the SQL Management Studio and right click on the databases. Select "Attach" and then "Add". Select the file with the name of the organization and confirm it. Now the data files are attached to the new database.

5- Before importing organization you need to create the users in the new AD. It is better to create the same usernames. Remember that your newly installed CRM environment should have the same rollup version with the old environment. So, install the required rollups.

6- In this step, open the deployment manager and right click the "Organizations" and select the "Import Organization". Automatically, the newly attached organizations would be shown in the wizard. The rest of the procedure is the same as the creation of the new organization, except the mapping of the users. You could select to automatically map the users, which searches for the usernames of the full names. Alternatively, you could use manual mapping which you could define the other users for the old users.
