How To Enable Windows Logon And Windows Logoff Sounds in Windows 8.1

By default Windows 8.1 will not allow you to change Windows Logon or Windows Logoff sounds. If you go to Desktop view and open Sound by right clicking on Volume icon present in the taskbar and select Sounds you will not find any Windows Logon or Windows Logoff sounds. So if you like to enable them and change the sounds you need to go through registry tweaking.

Here is how to:

Press Win + R Keys to launch Run menu

In the blank space type in regedit and press the Enter key.

Click Yes to UAC.

The registry editor will open. Now you need to locate HKEY_CURRENT_USER\AppEvents\EventLabels

Scroll down to WindowsLogon

Look for the key ExcludeFromCPL present in the right pane.Double click on it and change the default Value Data from 1 to 0.

Similarly you can do the same for WindowsLogoff.

Close the Registry Editor.

Once again go to Sound, now you will find Windows Logon and Windows Logoff options are back and you will be able to change the sounds.
