App-V 5.0 Client Service Dependencies

Many organizations have a default server build that is provisioned through a Hypervisor template or will be provisioned by SCCM or MDT/WDS.

The App-V 5.0 SP1 client service has dependencies with other services, these services need to be started before the App-V client can start.

If dependencies are missing the following error will be displayed in the system event log:

Event ID 7001
The Microsoft App-V Client service depends on the Network List Service which failed to start because of the following error:
The Service cannot be started, either because it is disabled or because it has no enabled devices associated with it/

Although this error indicates that only one service is missing, the App-V client service indirectly has dependencies with three services. The Network List Service has a dependency on the Network Location Awareness service and both the App-V service and the Network List Service need the Remote Procedure Call (RPC) service:

  • Remote Procedure Call (RPC)
  • Network List Service
