Operating systems

Windows server 2008,

Windows 7,

Windows Server 2003

Scenario

By default the complete memory dump option is disabled in windows. We have to enable the complete memory dump for diagnosing purpose.

Solution

There is no GUI method for enabling the Complete Memory Dump option in windows server 2008. The only way we have to do is the registry editor.

To configure the complete memory dump you need to do it via the registry. Navigate to:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\CrashControl

Modify CrashDumpEnabled to a decimal value of 1. At present the value for CrashDumpEnabled is 3.

Now the option for complete memory dump is enabled.
