Test Lab Guide Mini-Module: Installing Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2013 on CLIENT1
This Test Lab Guide Mini-Module describes how to install Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2013 on CLIENT1 of the base configuration test lab. You download the evaluation .msi file, install Office 2013 Professional Plus, and then run Word 2013. The result is that the suite of Microsoft Office 2013 productivity applications is available on CLIENT1 for evaluation and for cross-product scenarios and solutions.
First, at a minimum, you create the Base Configuration test lab, which can be based on one of the following environments:
Next, you install Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2013 on CLIENT1.
- For the isolated subnets lab environment, connect the CLIENT1 computer to a network that has Internet access and configure the TCP/IP protocol on the Local Area Connection as needed. For example, if the network that has access to the Internet uses DHCP, no additional configuration is needed.
- From http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/evalcenter/jj192782.aspx?wt.mc_id=TEC_136_1_3, click Get Started Now.
- Sign in with your Microsoft account (Windows Live account).
- Enter your name, location, email address, and version of the software on the Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2013 web page, and then click Continue. On the next page, enter your business information, and then click Continue.
- On the Office page, print or copy the product key, select the language for the download, and then click Download.
- Specify that you want to store the download in a new C:\Office2013 folder.
- When the download is complete, exit the Download Manager.
- From the C:\Office2013 folder, extract the files from the OfficeProfessionalPlus*.img file into the C:\Office2013 folder. You might have to use a tool such as WinZip to perform this step.
- From the C:\Office2013 folder, double-click Setup.exe.
- On the Read the Microsoft Software License Terms page, click I accept the terms of this agreement, and then click Continue.
- On the Choose the installation you want page, click Install Now.
- On the Office page, click Close.
- Click Start, click All Programs, click Microsoft Office 2013, and then click Word 2013.
- On the Activate Office page, click Enter a product key instead. Type the product key from step 5, and then click Install.
- On the Welcome to your new Office page, click Next.
- On the Meet SkyDrive page, click Next.
- On the Hello User1! page, click Next.
- On the You’re good to go page, click All done!.
- Close Word 2013.
- For the isolated subnets lab environment, connect CLIENT1 to the Corpnet subnet and configure the TCP/IP protocol on the Local Area Connection as needed. For example, if the network that had access to the Internet used DHCP, no additional configuration is needed.
If you are running this test lab in a virtual environment, you can create a snapshot of the CLIENT1 virtual machine (VM) to save this configuration.
