FIM: How to Display the Security Groups (SGs) Navigation Bar Menu Item to Non-FIM Administrators

OVERVIEW

The purpose of this article is to outline the steps on how to display the Security Groups (SGs) on the Navigational Bar (Side Menu) for a Group Administrator.  Someone who is part of the Group Administrators set is not an FIM Administrator.  By default, someone who is not an FIM Administrator will not see the Security Groups (SGs), or My SGs, or My SG Memberships.  Our focus for the wiki is to allow Group Administrators to be able to see the Security Groups (SGs), or My SGs, or My SG Memberships.  However, you can utilize this as a guideline to be able to allow other non-FIM Administrators to be able to see the Security Groups (SGs), or My SGs, or My SG Memberships.

 

Note

Please note that this wiki will guide you through adding all three Navigational Bar Menu Items for Security Groups.  However, you may decide, or there may be a business rule in your business to only expose one or two of the items and not all of them.  So if you do not need to do all of them, then only do the ones you need within your business.

STEPS TO DISPLAY SECURITY GROUPS

  1. Login to the FIM Portal as an FIM Administrator
  2. Create a Usage Keyword for Group Administrators
  3. Display the Security Groups (SGs), or My SGs, or My SG Memberships for the Group Administrators
    1. Select Administration from the Navigational Bar Menu ( at the bottom of the menu )
    2. Select Navigation Bar Resources
    3. Expose Security Groups (SGs) (*NOTE: Only if you want to expose this Navigational Bar menu item)
      1. Select Security Groups (SGs)
      2. In the Usage Keyword Textbox, enter Group Administrators (If you created the Usage Keyword Set/MPR for Group Administrators then this will work.)
      3. Click Ok and then Submit
    4. Expose My SGs (*NOTE: Only if you want to expose this Navigational Bar menu item)
      1. Select My SGs
      2. In the Usage Keyword Textbox, enter Group Administrators (If you created the Usage Keyword Set/MPR for Group Administrators then this will work.)
      3. Click Ok and then Submit
    5. Expose My SG Memberships (*NOTE: Only if you want to expose this Navigational Bar menu item)
      1. Select My SG Memberships
      2. In the Usage Keyword Textbox, enter Group Administrators (If you created the Usage Keyword Set/MPR for Group Administrators then this will work.)
      3. Click Ok and then Submit
  4. Test, by logging into a machine as a Non-FIM Administrator and viewing the FIM Portal
  5. You should see on the Navigational Bar (Side Menu) Security Groups (SGs), My SGs, and My SG Memberships
