Our listening level

As I read from this book, apparently there are five listening levels. We usually listen at one of these levels (from worst to best):

  1. We ignore the person
  2. We pretend to listen
  3. We selectively listen
  4. We attentively listen
  5. We do emphatic listening

The last level means we listen with ears and eyes, and also our heart, by putting aside our own views and getting inside the other person's thoughts and words.

I think listening skill is very important (most of time we never listen), and I'll keep in mind all of these levels and be aware of them. I hope this will be useful for you too.
