Visual C++ 6.0 mainstream support will end on September 30, 2004
I still see a lot of people running VC++ 6.0 [SP3|SP4|SP5]. As of today, the status is that mainstream support will end on September 30, 2004!

Such news is only going to encourage my co-workers to want to move to Eclipse and GCC for now and Java in future... grrr. - Anonymous

You both have a point although...
Visual C++ 6.0 was released in 1998, wasn’t it? This is a 6 year old compiler. If you really like the C++ language and its power, you have a couple of reasons to upgrade to VC++ 2003. Have a look at http://msdn.microsoft.com/visualc/productinfo/topten/upgrade02.aspx - Anonymous
