Assent Intelligence License Wizard - update again

Update : This tool is now at v1.4, see this post : https://blogs.technet.com/b/yasc/archive/2010/09/18/asset-intelligence-license-wizard-v1-4.aspx

Version 1.3 is attached and should the last version for a while (unless fixes are needed).

This versions lets you specify the different servers hosting the database, the site server and the WMI provider. The previous versions listed only one machine name, assuming everything was in the same place. I would not be suprised if this is the reason why the tool was not working on some distributed setups. Anyway, this should provide more flexibility in the use of the tool.

Hi Jon, It shouldn't take long, but I haven't had the opportunity to test it against a very large database. Does it eventually finish? Do you see it progressing in the percentages displayed in the UI? Thanks

Thanks for your answer, I'm glad the current running time is acceptable.

Jonnie/Tom : Apologies for the late reply, I did not notice there were new comments on the blog. I have not seen these issues. I have successfully tested the tool against both Windows Server 2003 site servers and Windows Server 2008 site servers (x86 and x64). First, make sure you are running v1.4 from this blog, and that you can run SQL queries remotely against the site server using another tool (if possible). If the issue persists, you can contact me via email (see the readme file), I can then give you the queries run by the tool at that time, so you can check if there could be an issue here.

Nice tool.  The import to AILW takes a long time (~1 hour).  Is this normal?

Yes it eventually finishes.  I ran it directly from the sccm server and it only took about 5 minutes.  This is acceptable considering we only update the report periodically. Thanks again :)

I have the same issue as Jonnie.  The tool starts and states that it is working but then just sits.  Takes up 100% cpu during this time and doesnt change.  I have tried to run this from the Central Site Server as well as from my i7 desktop.  In every instance it pegs the cpu and doesnt result.
