cannot start search service Help

AhHhHh,,,,

this is my favorate,,,

once i tried to start the help search service which is a service that will enable you to search in the help files in MOSS,,,

when you try to create it, you get the most annoying and meaningful error message which is :) File Not Found !!!!

oh my god! that kept me staring at the screen for hours,,

anyways the log of this error is:

"

I am having the same error.  What permissions did you have to modify to resolve the issue?

Mike Hill  and mcodyw, honestly i don't know the exact permission, but what i know that the you don't have a permission to the registry even if you are an administrator. hence, you need to check if there is a GPO preventing you from doing it, you should have writing permission on the registry for this to create and update records
