What Wins: the idea or the execution? (A Totally Non-VM post)

I personally think its the execution.  I hear so many "great ideas" that if a good idea is all it takes then I would be retired by now and would be a billionare.  No joke!  On the other side, execution is important.  It is not attractive.  It is dirty, frusturating, and is a great thing to be able to do.  In Microsoft speak it is definitely a characteristic that many "blues." process originated folks, would have.

What started this thread?  Well that would be the ongoing successes that Apple has had first with the iPod and now with the iPhone.  They took already in market ideas, and made them so much better.  They executed on what others had done and made the user experience great.  (Hey have to give props where easily due.)

As a MBA grad, success needs to be understood.  Why was Company X succesful?  Even more importantly, why did Company Y fail in the same space?

You got to study history to be succesful.  If not your doomed to make the same mistakes of individuals and companies before you.

On a more positive note, great weather in the Seattle region this weekend, at least today, Saturday.  Off to enjoy it!
