Want to help out?

Researching use cases is an important way to make products better. Research helps to contribute to all the Windows Server product development by helping us understand how we can better support the way organization think about their work and perform their work with tools they have today.

What we will be doing at each site:

We want to sit with the IT Professional at their workplace and go through the work they typically do in a number of areas including: Supporting users, Managing Clients, Managing their Network, Managing their servers, Monitoring their environment, Managing storage and backup, Managing their Printers and Print Servers, and Managing the security of their IT Environment. We will ask them to walk through a number of the most common management tasks that they perform in these areas to understand their existing workflow and factors that influence the way they perform these tasks e.g. pain points, constraints, the tools they use and more.

Our goal is to create a better model of our customers from the perspective of the work they do and the goals they are trying to achieve which we will call the ‘Customer Model’. This model will then be used to set user specific goals with regard to product deliverables for teams across Windows Server, and validate features against real world scenarios.
