    Hello,
I'm a student at Palo Alto College taking an Excel course in San Antonio TX. I am working on an assignment that is giveing me trouble. The excercise step in the Shelly Cashman Series Microsoft Office Excel 2003 book is on how to display an Automaticc Subtotal in a List. When I follow these directions I recieve a note saying the command could not be completed by using the range specified. Select a single cell with in range and try the command again. This is what I do to recieve this error message.1.Click the State arrow in cell E8 and then click Sort Ascending in the State list. Select cell a7 to makethe list inactive. Click Data in the menu bar. 2.Click Subtotals in the Data menu. At this time I get the error message. I have been told this is a book tutoral error, but I want to learn how to do this step. Is there anyone out there that can help me?
