It's Been a Long Time.....

I've been away for a while, but for good reason.  Microsoft's fiscal year ends in June every year (this year we got a few extra days, but I digress) so I've spent the last month tying up loose ends and helping to close business.  So what did I really accomplish?

  1. I got my third MCITP certification.  Some teams at Microsoft require it MCITP and I happen to be on a team that does.  I now have the following MCITP certifications:  Enterprise Support Technicagion, Server Administrator and Enterprise Administrator.  It's been a journey for me on this because I didn't have an MCSE to start with.  Some people buy Transcender online content and study guides but I've found that the Microsoft E-Learning website, MS Press Self-Paced Training Kits, and MeasureUp practice exams are all I need to pass any MCTS and MCITP exam.  Of course spending the last 7.5 years working for Microsoft doing technical sales has helped.
  2. I helped close some pretty decent sized licensing deals with business customers.  Microsoft Licensing is often a source of confusion and a sore spot for customers.  This is mainly due to the fact that many customers are mis-licensed, although not intentionally.  I belive that part of the confusion stems from the sheer number of options available.  We strive to provide the most flexible licensing terms of any software vendor.  You have the option to buy licenses only, licenses + Software Assurance.  You can also enter into a subscription agreement or choose from multiple online options.  You can even finance the purchase of not only Microsoft software licenses, but also hardware and any professional services necessary to complete the deployment.  Unsure which option to choose?  If you know who your local Microsoft Account rep is, give her/him a call.  If not please call 1-800-426-9400.
  3. I also finalized a couple of programs that will go nationwide starting this month and I sneaked in a vacation to boot.
