The beginning of something new

Hi All,

There needs to be a support group of some kind, to help people like me keep blogs up to date. So here we go again, however this time from a new point of view. Many of you may have known that I used to travel around the Asia Pacific region quite a bit helping customers understand the value of Visual Studio Team System and how it really enables enterprise application development. Truth be told it was a lot of fun, to get out and learn from the experiences of so many of you and what you do in software development.

Now... for the change...

I recently took on a new opportunity at Microsoft in the Singapore subsidiary as Platform Strategy Manager. What the heck does that mean? Well I guess on the surface people might think it sounds as strange a role as the first time we started having developer evangelists, although now there are evangelists for everything. So what does a Platform Strategy Manager do?

1. Work with Singapore based business, government and the public on how Microsoft can assist in the adoption of technology to ensure a safe and secure IT environment. 
2. Work with the Open Source community on projects and integration.
3. Work with companies to help them get the best value from their investment in Microsoft technologies.
4. Work in the Singapore Sub, means I travel a lot less, don't know if my wife is happy about that or not.

So its a fairly big role, and lots of opportunities to work with customers on lots of things.

So there is one thing I want to start doing which I am sure is going to keep this blog going for a while, and that is to open this up not as a one way communication, but as a two way communication. I want you to let me know what are some of your questions when it comes to security and Microsoft products, and we will work on addressing them every week.

Oh and before someone asks the question... "Why does Microsoft's security suck?", those questions wont be addressed... just ignored :-).

So over to you Singapore, shout out and get heard...
