According to research firm IDC, every 20 - 25 years the information and communication technology (ICT) industry shifts to a new technology platform for growth and innovation. IDC believes that the latest shift will be built on mobile devices and apps, cloud services, mobile broadband networks, big data analytics and social technologies. If there ever was a time to plan your use of technology and align it to your nonprofit's organisational goals, that time is now. Happy planning.
Technology Planning
Technical people or "techies" are renowned for using language that nobody understands other than technical people. Given that most nonprofits don't have professional IT staff and your organisation's tech planning might be up to you, the non-techie, it's helpful to understand commonly used "tech terms". Then you can speak with authority when you discuss your tech plan with your colleagues, management, and board.
