Tips: ‘Group Policy Preferences’ are a Better Alternative to Logon Scripts

One great new feature in Windows Server 2008 is a feature called Group Policy Preferences.  Unlike Policies, Preferences are not enforced.  Before this feature was introduced, IT administrators would have to often write a whole bunch of logon scripts or tediously build the settings into an imaging process.  Both methods would typically take time and testing in addition to the fact that any changes required later down the line would require a complete re-engineering of the script or the image.  Group Policy Preferences solves this issue.

Using Group Policy Preferences, IT Pros get all the credit with improving OS productivity without any of the complaints around computers being too 'locked down.' Become an IT hero with Group Policy Preferences.  Read the whitepaper embedded below ( courtesy of DocStoc)
