Thales/nCipher announces EKM support for SQL Server 2008
I'm very please to announce that last week during the RSA Conference, Thales announced their support for SQL Server 2008 with their nCipher product line of hardward security modules (HSMs) (https://iss.thalesgroup.com/Press/Press%20Releases/2009/Thales%20Hardware%20Security%20Modules%20integrate%20with%20Microsoft%20SQL%20Server%202008.aspx). This will be of interest to those of you who are interested in leveraging the Extensible Key Management (EKM) feature of SQL Server 2008 which provides support for integrating with HSMs and key managers to centrally manage and secure keys outside of the database.
Il-Sung.

Hi, I was wondering what happened to Laurentiu's blog? It was an invaluable resource. - Anonymous

Laurentiu's blog is still around at http://blogs.msdn.com/lcris/ and is a great resource. Unfortunately he has moved to another team at Microsoft and so doesn't contribute to this blog and hasn't posted on his blog in awhile. Because people move around at Microsoft the security team thought going forward it would be better for continuity to share a team blog rather than each have our own blogs.
