MSDN Webcast: Creating Gadgets for Windows SideShow in Windows Vista
Can't make it to TechEd: Developers or MobileConnections and want to learn how to build gadgets for Windows SideShow? I'll be doing a webcast on November 28, 2006 at 10am PST on MSDN and show you what you need to know to get started. I haven't yet finalized my slides, but I can tell you this will be a good overview on SideShow gadget development, including basic and some more advanced topics. I'll also demo and discuss both our new managed API and Sidebar integration, which make it even easier to get going. For those who can't make it to the live webcast, I believe it will be available on-demand at some point after completion (I'll post more info on this when I have it). Here is the registration URL:

Hi. I watched the webcast last night and thought is was very interesting. I understand that some Windows SideShow compatible devices will be build on the forthcoming .NET Micro Framework. Are there any plans to do a webcast about .NET Micro Framework development in the near future? Cheers.Anonymous

Thanks for attending, I'm glad you found it interesting! Yes, many SideShow devices run firmware based on the .NET MicroFramework. Unfortunately, at the moment only IHV/OEM/ODMs are allowed to write code that runs directly on the device. There was a recent webcast on the .NET MicroFramework. The URL to view it is here: http://msevents.microsoft.com/CUI/WebCastEventDetails.aspx?EventID=1032314669&EventCategory=5&culture=en-US&CountryCode=USAnonymous

Hey, thanks for the link. This is just what I've been looking for. Maybe the guys over at www.aboutnetmf.com should update their Web site with this video. Cheers.
