Cannot connect Office Communicator 2007 R2 to Office Communications Server 2007

Summary:

You cannot connect to an Office Communications Server 2007 using an Office Communicator 2007 R2 client.

Details:

There are architectural changes introduced into Office Communicator 2007 R2 that are only compatible with Office Communications Server 2007 R2.

Workaround:

On Office Communications Server 2007, you can select to block Office Communicator 2007 R2 clients from connecting.

    Right now I use office communicator 2007 R2. And it connected to OCS 2007. :-)

    What has happen to your developers? They have got some kind lazy -pills? Otherwise it is very hard to understand that why there are no compatibility for old server version. It should not be rocket science to add clients a check the server version and behaves like that. Hope you are not planning to share the pills with Office and Outlook teams!

    I have R2 Client working against R1, Only issue this far are with Enterprise Voice, issue being you cannot forward or SIM ring calls anymore :-(
